Transparent, competitive, and sustainable procurement is a powerful lever to achieve economic, social and environmental impact and to improve democratic governance for European citizens. With this vision, public procurement in  Europe is undergoing major transformations. 2023 is a pivotal year to advance several major reforms. In the next 12 months, Europe will get closer to a single procurement data market by implementing the new eForms in most European countries and by creating the first ever EU centralized procurement data database – the Public Procurement Data Space. If done well, these reforms might completely change the rules of the game.

In addition to these EU-wide reforms, countries need to implement open-by-design approaches within their countries to unlock the full potential of public procurement and these reforms. There are already many emerging government leaders in Europe driving open and sustainable procurement, but we can do more collectively and within countries to reform policies, data and practices to make Europe greener and more inclusive.

Join us, the Public Procurement Commission of Albania, the Ministry of the Interior and Kingdom Relations of the Netherlands, the Anti-Corruption Authority of Italy, and Open Contracting Partnership, for this two-day meeting for policymakers, technologists, and experts to develop a shared vision, exchange best practices, and agree on concrete actions towards a more open and sustainable procurement in Europe. The event will be strengthening a joint open and sustainable procurement vision and addressing opportunities and barriers to implementing this vision at the country level.
