Statement on judgments of the CJEU. Luxembourg Business Registers and Antea Polska

The recent judgments of the CJEU in the Luxembourg Business Registers (on the openness of beneficial owners’ data) and Antea Polska (on the scope of data secrecy in public procurement) cases carry risks for the work of journalists and NGOs. We invite you to read the Open Spending EU Coalition’s position on this issue and the steps that the authorities should now take.

“We are concerned that two recent decisions of the Court of Justice of the European Union may negatively impact the transparency of public spending and the fight against corruption and money laundering in Europe.

“The EU institutions, Member State governments, civil society organisations (CSOs), journalists, and the business community must now work together to ensure that transparency and openness of public spending remain the core principles of good governance in the EU.”
